Going Green
Since we had the luxury of building Aahh Bali Seraya from the ground up, going green is important to us. We want to be the GREENEST of the GREEN properties in Bali. Bali is running out of fresh water. Uninformed people have been taking their toll on these resources. We have built this project with water conservation in mind and the entire top floor will collect rainwater. In addition, only the toilets will go to the septic tank, all other drains will be collected as gray water and used irrigation. Faucets will be push types to prevent wastefully running water in the sinks and we are seeking similar features for our showers as in pull chain showers.
For power, we will employ wind and solar systems to be off grid as much as possible if not 100%. All lighting will be LED for low consumption, as well as other energy efficient devices. Like all hotels in Bali, we will have AC but will offer incentives not to use it. We designed the building to allow the breezes from the sea to flow through the rooms. The average wind speed here is 7mps.
In building, we decided to use as little wood as possible to save natural resources. Rare woods have been overused almost to the point of extinction. Windows and doors will be PVC. Windows will be double pane with low E glass to be the most energy efficient possible and block harmful UV rays. Even our furniture will be made from common plentiful woods like coconut. Indonesia produces the most coconuts in the world.
