Bob has worked as a Financial Analyst, Senior Accountant, Controller, and Consultant, holds a BS, MBA and PhD in business and has spent the majority of his life self-employed, serving clients. 20 years in a credit card processing company of his own creation. He created a niche between merchants and banks to give the small businessman a better credit card rate. After selling that business, he owned and operated apartment units, single-family homes, duplexes, 4 plexes, and multi-unit complexes for the next 15 years. Throughout his career, he has focused on customer service. He lost less than 1% of his client base to competition over the 20 years in the credit card business. As a landlord he had very low tenant turnover because he was always responsive to the needs of his tenants, and continually upgraded the properties. He literally traveled the world looking for the perfect retirement spot and chose Bali. Then he was fortunate enough to team up with Lydia to create an award winning hospitality team.
Lydia
Lydia (Lyds) earned her law degree, at which time she discovered that wasn’t her passion and attended culinary school in Jakarta. She graduated with honors and landed a job as a chef for a cruise ship line. Then she was hired as a chef for a major 5-star hotel in Singapore. She moved to Bali and started her own catering and event company. Aside from being an accomplished Chef she grew up being trained as an herbalist and has a background in herbal medicine. Studying plants and their health benefits. In addition to that she is an amazing artist and speaks 5 languages.

Together they started Aahh Bali Bed & Breakfast in 2010 with the goal of creating a better Bed & Breakfast. Bob with his business acumen and attention to customer service and Lydia with her artistic and creative abilities, and attention to detail, her amazing food presentation that is always picture-perfect, combined their talents to be ranked the #1 B&B in Jimbaran on TripAdvisor by 2012 (one of the largest and most used travel sites online). They have held on to that honor ever since, winning Travelers Choice Awards and Certificates of Excellence every year. TripAdvisor inducted Aahh Bali into the Certificate of Excellence Hall of Fame in 2018.

Aahh Bali is not just a name it is how I felt every time I came back to this place until I made it my home. It is everything I could have hoped for in a place to spend the rest of my life. So much different than the states, so calm, warm, friendly where road rage is almost non-existent, except from foreigners. Where police are actually helpful and not full of themselves. Life is so laid back here it is hard to imagine living anywhere else. Of course it isn’t perfect, no place really is. The infrastructure could be better, but things like banking and internet are better than most other places including many parts of the US. Once you are established the things you can do on an ATM will astound you. Bali has the best internet in Indonesia.
